NEW YORK, NY — January 25, 2013 — eCaring, a New York-based health care management technology company that provides a unique cloud-based care management system, announced today that Dr. Wen Dombrowski, M.D., will join its board of advisors. Dombrowski is a recognized authority in the fields of health care, health information technology, social media and aging. As an advisor, Dombrowski will support eCaring’s mission to lower health care costs while improving outcomes by using its one-of-a-kind system to generate critical real-time health care information from a patient's home. “As a medical professional and HIT expert, Dr. Dombrowski personifies the vision of eCaring, which is to use the power of digital media and new technology to address the complex medical needs of the elderly and patients with chronic conditions,” said Robert M. Herzog, CEO of eCaring. “Her extensive hands-on experience in senior care, as well as with electronic health records (EHRs), will provide valuable guidance to eCaring as we implement our system with care management organizations and providers.” eCaring is a pioneering cloud-based care coordination system that can generate comprehensive real-time clinical and behavioral data from the patient’s home. Home care aides, family caregivers and patients can enter extensive information including medication intake, vital signs, sleep and diet patterns, and critical events. The system allows doctors, care managers, family members or any other member of a patient’s care team to easily access this information in real time and receive alerts when situations require immediate attention, keeping patients out of the hospital and in their homes. “eCaring has a one-of-a-kind, icon-based user interface that is unlike paper or phone-based care reporting systems of the past” said Dombrowski. “eCaring will help caregivers manage the care of loved ones at home, with the goal of preventing avoidable hospitalizations and readmissions.” Dombrowski advises startup organizations on best practices in the health care technology market. In her previous position as director of clinical informatics at Morris Heights Health Center, she managed the development and implementation of electronic medical record systems. Prior to that, she was a medical director of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York’s CHOICE Health plans, a Medicare insurance plan for seniors and people with disabilities. Dombrowski has previously served as a geriatrics fellow at Mt. Sinai and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center. She holds a bachelor of science in cellular-molecular biology from the University of Michigan, a medical degree from the University of Rochester, and is currently enrolled in IE Business School’s Global Executive Master of Business Administration. eCaring’s board of advisors also includes Dr. Holly Atkinson, chief of medical affairs at HealthiNation, Chris O'Brien, of Everyday Health, David Pachter, founder and CEO of LocalVox, and Mark Mannino, global sales leader for Amazon Advertising.
